3 Quick Tips to Lose Weight

Everyone wants to lose a little weight. Modern society has been blessed with technological advancements that give us so much more for so much less and make our daily lives so much easier. Food is easily packaged and sold at a local grocery store. We can buy ready made foods like steak and potatoes or mixed salads in a bag.

The downside with easy food is easy weight gain. Here are three tips to get you started on a lifestyle change and lose those extra pounds.

1. Have a good breakfast: Burning fat requires energy and the human body would prefer to use protein than fat because it is more readily available. By missing breakfast your body thinks it isn’t getting any energy until lunch, so it goes into fat storage mode to limit the amount of energy being used.

Have a healthy breakfast consisting of fruit, eggs, whole grains and brown bread; these foods release energy at a slow, constant rate, giving you enough energy to make it to the next meal.

2. Drink lots of water: Go back to nature. Water, in the long run, will provide you with more energy than sugar-laden softdrinks or sports drinks. Because of the availability of sweet drinks, by comparison, water becomes boring, but by thinking positive and moving towards eight glasses of water a day you will probably learn to love it.

Drinking water will also give you a new found sense of energy, alertness, digestion, and even improve the condition of your skin. So drink water instead of carbohydrate and sugar loaded sodas etc – which will only make you fat.

3. Exercise: There are two types of exercise we can do and both can burn fat, but in very different ways. Aerobic exercise is walking, running and swimming. The intensity of muscle workout is low so it must be done for a long duration.

A 30 minute walk burns roughly 250 calories, but a pound of fat contains 3500. Doanaerobic exercise, bench-presses, chin-ups and squats and other muscle building exercises. These exercises do not burn fat directly, instead they produce larger muscles which need more fuel and this is where the fat is burnt.
