What Your BMI Value means. If your BMI value is anywhere between 18.5 & 24.9 then you are within the healthy weight range. There is a large range between these values to account for different body builds or body types, it also accounts whether male or female. This means that a male with a naturally large build should target the higher end of the healthy range, 23-25 BMI value. A female with a small build should target the lower value around 19 or 20 BMI. Although this is a logical explanation and should not be taken completely, the fact is any person within this BMI range has a healthy weight range.
Any value below 18.5 means you are considered underweight for your specified height.
A BMI over 25 but under 30, is considered as being overweight in relation to your height. This is at the stage where you should try to lose some weight through increased activity, and maybe not focus too much on following any strict diet.
A BMI value of above 30 is considered obese. These people should seek advice from a qualified professional such as your doctor or a nutritionist. You should keep in mind that many people who reach this state may find it even more difficult to lose the weight if left too long. The weight loss plan should be one that targets a slow but steady weight loss over many months, fast weight loss will certainly not work for obese people. It takes a long time for someone to become obese so it will take time to lose it!
BMI values over 40 are considered extreme obesity. These people are at high health risks and should seek attention quickly. Check out your body muscle to fat weight with the latest technology weighing scales!
