Whether it is the marketing behind the food, what the alternative is and what you are use to eating, there are some foods that you assume would help you lose weight that are actually hindering your weight loss and making you fat. That is exactly why you need to know what these different foods are and how each affects your body and prevents weight loss. Artificial Sweeteners Whether you use Splenda or one of the other varieties of artificial sweeteners, you probably take these to replace the traditional sugar that is used in snacks, soft drinks or other foods. However, artificial sweeteners actually have some rather negative side effects. Now only do people who eat food with artificial sweeteners consume more food in one sitting than someone eating a food item with sugar, but the sweeteners also can damage helpful bacterial in your stomach as well. Probably the most common food or beverage with artificial sweeteners found inside are diet sodas. In fact, people who consume at least one diet beverage a day are over 40 percent more likely to be overweight than someone who drinks water or another beverage without the sweetener. Veggie Chips The name itself sounds healthy. Instead of eating deep friend potato chips, you are eating healthy slivers of vegetables. Why would that not prove healthy? Well, the fact of the matter is that most veggie chips are fried instead of baked anyways, so it really doesn't matter what is found inside of the snack, because as long as it is fried, it is not really that healthy. Additionally, check out what the ingredients are on the bag. Chances are, you are going to find that potatoes are actually one of the top ingredients in the product. Veggie chips often use flour as well. In fact, in many cases you might find that veggie chips are less healthy than traditional potato chips.
Processed Deli Meats Turkey is an excellent source of lean protein and low calories, which makes it one of the most desirable food options you can include in your diet plan. However, processed deli meats should not be included in your diet because these products are going to hinder your weight loss potential. This is because of all of the sodium and nitrites found inside of the food. Salt and other chemicals are used to extend the life of the deli meats. However, the salt forces you to retain water, which increases your bloated water weight, and the nitrites are linked to cancer. This, however, does not mean you need to completely avoid deli meats all together. Instead, just make sure you locate meats that are chemical free and, if possible, organic. You might pay more for the organic lunch meats, but in the end, it ultimately helps prevent your chances of developing cancer and at the very least, it reduces your sodium intake which lowers your chances of high blood pressure. Condiments The little amounts of condiments that you use to enhance the extra flavor of your food can't add that much in terms of calories, can it? Well, ultimately, it really depends on what kind of condiments you use. While you probably already know that ranch dressings, mayonnaise and other cream based condiments are already packed full of fat and calories, there are other condiments that can also increase the amount of weight you put on. Tartar sauce can quickly take healthy lean fish and drastically increase the amount of fat calories you consume. Even ketchup is loaded with calories. This is because there is a fair amount of sugar found inside of ketchup. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup are used to reduce the acidity levels of the ketchup. Unfortunately, using ketchup containing high fructose corn syrup could drastically affect your weight loss potential. While it is naturally derived from corn syrup, the product is chemically enhanced to provide a sweeter taste, and it also reduces the senses inside of the body that tells the brain you are full, so you actually eat more of the product. Chances are, you probably use a bit too much ketchup on your favorite foods. However, you don't have to live without this particular condiment. Organic ketchup cuts out the high fructose corn sugar, which drastically cuts down on the calories and other health issues. Best of all, it only costs a few cents more at the grocery store, so you don't have to go broke buying it. There are many different food products that actually can hinder weight loss goals, which is why you need to stay on the look out for what these particular foods are. Don’t pay attention to the attractive images and advertisements. Instead, take the time to read the ingredients list so that you can avoid eating the wrong foods.
