How to Burn Fat Without Lifting Weights

Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to burn fat and lose weight without ever having to go to the gym? People are always on the lookout for “magic” weight loss pills and supplements that will help them to burn fat with no effort, but sadly there are none. There’s nothing that can replace hard work at the gym or on the running track if you want to lose weight.

However, here are some nifty tricks to burn EXTRA fat without touching a weight:

1.     Take BCAAs

Branch-chain amino acids–or BCAA’s, as they’re more commonly known–are excellent for torching fat. They can help to increase the amount of fat that you burn on a daily basis, and they will help to maintain your muscle mass even while on a strict diet. If you’re on a diet, you can shed up to 17% MORE fat just by adding these to your diet, so start with between 5 and 10 grams per day to boost the effectiveness of both your diet and workout!

2.     Eat More Protein

Eating more protein increases the number of calories you burn, simply because protein is harder for your body to digest than either fat or carbs. Protein not only helps you to burn more calories, but you eat less because you are full for longer. Eating protein BEFORE your workout will help you to double down on the effectiveness of the training session, but you can burn more calories just by switching your diet to a higher-protein one.

3.     Fish Oil

You may not love the taste, but you won’t be able to deny the effectiveness of fish oil. Not only does it improve your heart health, boost your brain function, and reduce inflammation in your body, but it has proven effective at increasing fat burning. One study showed that people taking fish oil lost an extra six pounds over the course of three weeks, and those pounds were ALL fat. You’ll find that taking fish oil with your workout routine is a great way to improve your health while drastically increasing the fat that you burn!

4.     Drink Green Tea

Green tea is more than just a mild stimulant, but it’s also loaded with metabolism-boosting nutrients that will help you to burn more fat without doing anything more than sipping the hot drink. Not only will you burn more calories throughout the day, but the drink will make oxidation of fat easier on your body. Green tea also helps your body to store extra calories in the form of muscles rather than fat, providing you with more energy for your workouts!

5.     Drink Water First Thing

The minute you wake up, try drinking a glass or two of water. It will help to reduce dehydration (you’re always dehydrated in the morning), and give your metabolism a nice little boost to start your morning. You should not only have this first thing in the AM glass of water, but you should also shoot to drink at least 64 fluid ounces of water throughout the day. You can boost your metabolism by up to 40% if you drink water at the right time of day!

6.     Eat Big Post Workout

Once you’ve finished your workout, it’s time for the largest meal of your day. You want to eat the big meal 30 to 60 minutes after working out, as it gives your body the carbs, protein, and fats it needs to replenish the energy and muscle burned for the workout. Plus, you will IMMEDIATELY use the calories you are consuming, so there is a much lower chance of extra calories being stored as fat!
