When baby fat persists into adulthood it can be unsightly and embarrassing. One of the most common places to have baby fat is around the belly, but it can often stick around on your face as well. Unfortunately there is no way to lose fat from one specific area of the body, but the good news is that losing weight overall will help to reduce baby fat on your face, and make your face appear thinner.
Here are a few things you can do to help to get rid of baby fat on your face:
- Sort out your diet. You know what it is that you eat that you really shouldn’t be eating, so make a concerted effort to cut it out of your diet. Identify bad snack times, and find some other activity to fill this time. If you cut out the times when you routinely snack, then you’ll be able to control what you eat much more easily. Sticking to meal times, and replacing high-fat foods with healthier options, will help you lose weight in general, and this will help to reduce baby fat on your face.
- Get a good workout. Even if you’ve never done weight training before, it’s never too late to start. Adding some light weight training to your regular exercise schedule will help to boost your metabolism and improve general muscle tone, both of which will help to get rid of baby fat on your face. If you’re self-conscious about going to gym, many people will be selling or giving away weight sets – check on Craigslist if there are any in your area you can pick up on your way home from work.
- Drink a lot of water. If you replace that mid-afternoon cup of coffee with a big glass of water, and carry a good water bottle around with you at all times, you should be able to keep your daily intake of water up at between 2.2 liters (for women) and 3 liters (men). This will speed your metabolism, improve your general feeling of wellbeing, and also help you to feel fuller at mealtimes, meaning you’ll eat less. Drinking water is an essential part of any healthy diet, and it will help you to get rid of baby fat on your face if done in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise.
- Do some face exercises. There are many in this article, but here are two you can do: Firstly, draw your cheeks in by closing your lips and opening your jaws. Draw your cheeks in towards the centre of your mouth and hold them for ten seconds before letting them out. You can also take a deep breath, and then close your mouth and push your cheeks out, one by one. This will help to strengthen the muscles in your cheeks, improving their tone and helping to reduce the appearance of baby fat on your face. Keep in mind though, this will not actually allow you to lose weight on your face, just give it a little push in the way of looking slimmer.
