How to Lose Belly Fat if You’re a Teen Girl
Once puberty settles in, fat can start to accumulate quickly around the belly, especially if you are a girl. Whether you need to drop a few inches for an upcoming prom or you want to keep off that belly fat before you go to college, here is a three-step plan that will help you lose that fat fast.
Tips to Lose Belly Fat
Stay Active
It's easy to stay indoors when studying for those vital exams to get you into college but it's important to stay active. Being active increases circulation and helps to boost your memory in addition to losing weight. If you’re not the “sporty” type, then try walking to school, jogging for 30 minutes every day before studying, doing some yoga, etc – anything to stay active.
Give up the Rush
Another staple of being a teenager is usually the carbohydrate and fat laden food/drink – fast food, soda, candy, ice cream etc. Cut out unnecessary carbs from your diet. Eat more whole wheat, fiber, lean protein, more monounsaturated fats. Stay off the junk food. Good sources of protein to eat whilst studying are fish and eggs.
Use Your Math Skills
Use your math skills and count your calories. As an active teen girl, you should not need more than 1,300 calories per day. If you’re used to eating more, then 1,400 calories is also fine, as long as you’re adhere to this number. As reference, a chocolate bar contains about 200 calories if not more. A danish pastry contains more than 260 calories.
