Many of us want to monitor our weight at this time so that we don’t gain any weight, and that’s a great idea for anyone to use. Goodness knows there is nothing as annoying after holiday weight loss. Ugh.
If you’re wondering how to maintain your weight through the holidays, we’ll go over a few tips that should make it relatively easy. The only bad part, if you can even call it that, is that you’ll have to stay out in front of the situation at all times and you will have to sacrifice some of those foods you enjoy for the sake of your waistline.
Tips on How to Maintain Your Weight through the Christmas Holidays
- Write it Down : We want to start here with creating a journal. In this journal, you want to put down your weight, a calorie allotment for holiday meals (let’s call it 2000/day on holidays), and also your starting weight and measurements. Remember: it’s up to you to stay out in front of the potential weight gain here.
- Plan a new menu : While you’re writing, you can also take this opportunity to plan a new menu. I know; you’d hate to break away from tradition. But use the computer for something other than downloading music for a change! Go to the Food Network or some other site and find out about healthy alternatives to cook in place of those fatty meals you usually enjoy. Create a plan and stick to it. Limit your carbs; limit yourself to only one dessert. Watch your calorie intake.
- Hit the Scales : You’ll need to test the waters every day throughout the holiday season. So, when you wake up in the mornings, hit the scales. See if you’re putting on any weight at all. If you’re not, then you’re doing something right. If you are, then you know you need to make adjustments in your plan.
- Honestly as Your Policy : One of the most important things you can do here is to be honest with yourself. Don’t try to cheat your chart by hiding that piece of cake you ate. And don’t think for a second that a sugar-drenched drink doesn’t count as “food,” because it does. Intellectual honesty is a great weapon in fighting that holiday weight gain.
- Sweat it Out : Look, 99.9% of all homes on the planet could use a bit of work, whether it’s some dusting or simply rearranging the furniture. So, if you’re not keen on getting on that treadmill for a half an hour every morning, then put yourself to work around the house and stay active to maintain your weight though the Christmas holidays. Even if you’re only walking the dog or raking up all the leaves on the lawn, the more active you stay the more calories you’ll burn – so get to work.
