How to Start the Morning RightIt can be tough to get up in the morning! Between the stresses of work, the pressures of family life, a lack of sleep, and intense daily workouts, you may have no energy to crawl out of bed when your alarm goes off. Thankfully, we've got a few tips on how to start the morning right so you get your mind and body in gear for an active day:
MeditateIf you want to know how to start the morning right, start it with some simple meditation exercises. Try a gratefulness exercise or one that encourages mindfulness. Take the first few moments of your day to clear your mind of all those busy thoughts and just relax. Jumping out of bed in a hurry can put you on a stressful track all day long. Starting your day with calm and meditation can help you to be more relaxed.
StretchAfter a night spent in bed, your muscles need a bit of a warm-up. Spend a few minutes doing stretches or Yoga Sun Salutations. The movement first thing in the morning will get your blood circulating and your heart beating, plus it will loosen up those tight muscles. You only need to spend 5-10 minutes stretching, but it will make you feel better all morning long.
ShowerNothing starts your day off right like a nice warm shower! You can turn the water on cold to get your circulation flowing, but a warm/hot shower will wake you up and get your energy levels up. When you step out all fresh and clean, you'll feel like a million bucks and ready to face the day!
If you can, try to fit your workout in first thing in the morning. An early morning workout is a wonderful way to rev up your metabolism, and it will help you to burn more calories throughout the day. Starting the day with a lean protein, whole carbs, fruit, and vegetables will get you in the "healthy eating" mindset, which will make it easier for you to make the healthy choices once again at lunch and dinner time. A hearty breakfast will give you the energy to get through the morning without feeling tired or hungry.
LaughNothing beats the early morning blues like a hearty laugh. Spend time talking and laughing with your kids, or turn on something funny (a stand-up comedy special or funny news channel) in the background as you enjoy your morning cup of coffee. Laughter will help to de-stress you and take away your worries from the previous day. You'll be much happier and in a better mood when you leave for work.
