Protein in Steak

Steak is not only high in protein quantity but the protein in steak also has a high biological quality. It means that steak protein can be absorbed and utilized well because it contains all essential amino acids in the correct proportions required by the body for optimum growth of lean, metabolically active tissue. Maintaining our levels of lean muscle weight is crucial for keeping the metabolic rate efficiently high enough to burn enough calories to lose weight.

Quality of proteins can be an important factor for weight loss because many man-made or processed products contain high protein levels of poor quality. It means the protein in these foods cannot be used for maintenance and must either be used for energy or converted to fat. If a dieter is following a calorie controlled diet there's less chance protein will be converted to fat however the more protein burned for energy the less fat is burned from fat stores and burning more fat from the stores is what results in permanent weight loss.

The steak protein quality basically means that all its protein can be used for protein synthesis and limits the amount burned as fuel.
