Staying Fit and Healthy

Everyone wants to be fit and healthy. Unfortunately, most people do not realize what it takes to achieve optimum health. We all know that a healthy diet and regular exercise is essential, but somehow that knowledge alone is not enough. We are still seeking quick fixes and looking for the easy way out. If you want to lose weight, maintain the weight loss, become fit and improve your overall health you need to make a definite choice to permanently change your lifestyle.

Diets Don’t Work

The reason most diets don’t work is because diets are designed to help people lose a certain amount of weight in a specific time frame. This makes diets temporary, and temporary achievements do not result in long-term success. Every diet on the market emphasizes how much weight you will lose in a week or a month by following a meal plan or purchasing special program meals. Once you have lost the undesirable weight and end the diet the weight you lost will return usually along with additional pounds. Diets only work if you can permanently stick with the program. Are you really able to eat packaged diet program meals for the rest of your life?

Exercise is Not Enough

Don’t expect exercise alone to lead you to successful weight loss. In fact, depending on your eating habits, exercise might not make any difference in your ability to lose weight. If you are eating the wrong types of food on a regular basis you won’t be able to lose weight. That’s because some foods actually increase your appetite. Other foods inhibit your body’s ability to detect when it is full. In other words, poor quality, chemical-rich foods filled with artificial ingredients disrupt your body’s normal processes making it impossible for you to lose weight. If your body is not able to burn stored fat, you will not lose weight.

The Fit and Healthy Lifestyle

Adopting a healthy lifestyle is essential to stay fit and healthy and to improve your health. Don’t focus on diets or dieting. Don’t focus on counting how many calories you consume and how much exercise you need to burn off calories. Instead think of making changes in your lifestyle that benefit your overall health and well-being. Decide to provide your body with the best foods available – high quality, nutrition-rich natural and organic foods. Provide your body with pure water and fresh fruit juice. Give your body a good night’s sleep every night and take cat naps when necessary. Allow your body to use it’s muscles on a daily basis by being physically active. Physical activity should be a natural process and not something that you need to plan. You should be able to go for a swim, play tennis, work in your garden or take a walk in the park for enjoyment. Take the time to wash your car or mow your lawn and enjoy the experience. It is easy to get exercise in the process of just living your life.

Change Your Thinking

Focus on living a happy life independent of what is going on around you. Be optimistic, count your blessings and never take your health for granted. Love and cherish your body so that you will value it enough to treat it well. Stop thinking of junk food as a treat. Junk foods are not treats. They are unhealthy products that you are putting into your body that will eventually lead to disease. Don’t make excuses for failing to take care of your body – take responsibility. Taking personal responsibility for your health and well-being is the safest way to prevent illness and obesity, and to protect your health. This is what it takes to truly become fit and healthy.
