What Causes Indigestion?Dyspepsia, known commonly by most as indigestion, is a very common ailment that causes the stomach to become upset. This can lead to

Since the term “indigestion” covers so many various conditions, it stands to reason that there are many different causes of indigestion. We’ll go over some of the most noted so that you can understand what’s bringing your indigestion on. Possible Causes of Indigestion
- Acid Reflux Disease
This disease, known technically as gastroesophageal reflux disease, causes the acid in your stomach to basically back up into your esophagus. Since the acid in your stomach is literally strong enough to eat through metal, it’s no wonder that it causes pain and discomfort and, if persisting long enough, even long-term damage. If you’re suffering from acid indigestion more than twice a week, then you may want to see a doctor and find out if you’re suffering from acid reflux. This could be the cause of your chronic indigestion, and if so it can be treated.
Having a peptic ulcer can be a cause of indigestion. These ulcers can form inside of your esophagus, in your small intestine or in your stomach. Still known as indigestion and extremely similar to heartburn in its symptoms, a peptic ulcer may easily go undiagnosed. The danger here is that the ulcer become infected or beings to bleed. - Eating Habits
Your eating habits can be the cause of your indigestion, of course. If you’re eating your meals too quickly, or if you’re eating too much, or if you’re eating fatty, overly acidic or overly spice foods, you can bring about indigestion in a hurry.
- Functional Dyspepsia
This chronic condition also has a symptoms list that mimics basic heartburn. Although, other symptoms of this condition include: feeling too full after a meal or feeling full before finishing a meal; the trifecta of bloating, gas and heartburn; chronic onset of symptoms after each meal.
Cancer is, of course, the most dangerous cause of indigestion imaginable. Unfortunately, stomach cancer may take years to manifest and become very strong by the time it’s found, and its symptoms are hard to spot because they mimic most other indigestion problems.
