How to Lose Weight Eating Fast Food

Now, if you’re looking to lose weight fast and easy, fast food is probably not the first thing that comes to mind.  However, if you’re on a diet, there’s no reason why fast food can’t be a part of it, if you’re careful and you know your way around food.

Believe it or not, many of the items on a fast food restaurant’s menu are surprisingly low in calories.  It’s the rest of the stuff – the fries, the dressings and the desserts, that pack on the pounds and will lead you to an early cardiac arrest.

If you want to lose weight fast and easy, but still treat yourself to some fast food now and then, here’s how to do it:

  1. Avoid the meal deals.
  2. These are absolutely the worst way to eat – you don’t need all those fries!  A big burger is more than enough of your daily intake of calories without adding thousands in the form of a pack of fries.  Don’t buy a drink either – keep a bottle of water or juice in your car, and drink that with your meal instead, or just order a water.  Not only will you be saving money, but you’ll be cutting hundreds if not thousands of calories out of one of your daily meals.

  3. Cut out the dressing, or use your own at home.
  4. You can buy many low-fat dressings, so there’s no need to use the one supplied in a little sachet with your meal.  These little dressings can add up to 100 calories, or what you burn in a 20 minute walk!  You can buy dressings in pre-made sachets, so maybe do this if you’re in the habit of hitting the drive through and eating in your car.

  5. Don’t go to the drive-through hungry.
  6. We know that this is the most likely time you’re going to be going to the drive through, but try to avoid it.  Eat a granola snack on the way to avoid the temptation to buy fries and a dessert.

  7. Don’t supersize it
  8. If you absolutely have to have those fries, go with a junior portion.  You’ll cut out hundreds of calories, and still get your fix of cooked starch goodness.

  9. Walk to go get fast food!
  10. If the fast food place is within 20 minutes of your house, take a walk.  Chances are you’ll burn a good third of the calories you’re about to eat on the way there and back.

  11. Choose mustard instead of mayonnaise
  12. The dressings on burgers, fries and salads are often where a lot of the calories are hiding.  By replacing these with low-fat alternatives or cutting them out completely you can make a fast food meal a lot healthier.

Ideally, you’d cut fast food out of your diet completely. This is not the healthiest way to lose weight, and this is not the way we would recommend to those looking to shed those extra pounds. It is a far better plan to swap out fast food for wholesome and nutritious foods instead.
