The Skinny on Anabolic DietsThe anabolic diet is a low carb diet that will help you to reach your weight loss goal. Many weightlifters use this diet as it helps to burn off fat calories and reveals one’s super physique. Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale created this diet. The main theory behind this diet is that the diet alternates between eating low and high amounts of carbohydrates. In return, the body is able to burn almost only fat rather than carbohydrates because the body uses the fat as a source of energy and fuel. When you begin the anabolic diet, the carb intake is very low. This initial period is actually a transition period where the body begins to wean itself off of using carbohydrates as its main source of energy and switches over to fats. The transition takes place rather quickly but it can be a little uncomfortable for the first few days. Some people can experience headaches, fatigue and even dizziness. The intake is significantly less than what you may be used to as the initial carb intake for the first week is only 30 grams per day or less. The reason for this is that the body will switch over to burning fat quicker which will make the transition period quicker. Another factor that helps to speed up this process is exercise. Once your body has become accustomed to burning fat instead of carbohydrates, then you can begin incorporating cycles of eating higher amounts of carbohydrates. As a rule of thumb, dieters will eat low carbs Monday through Friday and high carbs throughout the Weekend.
The breakdown of calories eating during the week is 30 to 35 percent proteins and 55 to 60 percent of fats. Only a mere consumption of 5 percent of carbs should be taken in. If the fat intake does not reach the target area of 55 to 60 percent then the diet will not work. Therefore, you will need a good knowledge of food and learn how to eat properly with 5 to 6 smaller meals per day. You should never feel hungry while on this diet and are always encouraged to eat when you feel hungry. The approximate calorie intake is 18 times your bodyweight. Therefore if you weigh 160 then your calorie intake should start at 2880 calories. Depending on your weight loss goals, these calories can be adjusted. There are a few foods that are recommended while you are on this diet. You can create many different meals using these ingredients which will help you to plan great meals that do not become repetitive. You should be eating good amounts of fruits and vegetables but be careful as there are many with high carbohydrates. Therefore, you should only eat those fruits and vegetables with low carb intakes. Other foods include fish, butter, peanuts, chicken, tofu, diet sodas, fish oil, meat, chicken, almonds, cheese, pickles, mustard, sugar free jello, sour cream and Caesar salad dressing. With an anabolic diet, you will be able to lose body fat while maintaining or increasing your muscle mass. Many people begin to use steroids for the same results as one would receive with this diet which provides for a healthy alternative.
